One month later....

So I haven't posted in a while... thought I would give this blogging thing a try again. I am out of school and chillin in Athens with the occasional trip back to Augusta to visit family (aka mooch) I got my visa a couple weeks ago, so I am set to intern in London. I find out my placement June 6/7 so stay tuned. I've been in a financial crunch since I want to have ample funds in London (by ample I mean enough to actually feed myself and possibly see a play) so I have not really had the pleasure of dining out. I have visited the Globe here in Athens a couple times. They absolutely have the best fries. So crispy and delicious. I went once at the first weekend in May with my Creative Consultants team and clients, sursievision. Then I went again to have dinner with a long lost friend who happens to be going on the same trip to London with me this summer. We were set to dine at Pauley's, but it was pretty noisy, not the best location to talk and catch up on several years of life.
Anyways, I have been pretty interested in a couple few pieces of hip hop news lately that I have been using as conversation starters:
1) Lil Wayne has a job in prison. He watches people on suicide watch! Just imagine wanting to end your life in a dismal prison and Lil Wayne aka Dwayne Carter comes to lift your spirits. I wonder if he raps to them...
2) I know I'm a little behind, but Lil Jon has a wine label called Little Jonathan, and guess what... its actually good! I haven't had the pleasure of gracing my palate with it myself, however his 2006 Central Coast Chardonnay won a silver medal at the Los Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition last year. Wow. Lil Jon also has a line of sunglasses with Oakley and, of coarse, CRUNK!!! Energy Drinks.
3) Lil Jon is remixing "Can't be Tamed" with Miley Cyrus. Her album of the same name will be out June 22. Can't wait to hear this single!
Anyways, that's it for today. Get Crunk!! YEAH!

Frustration Nation

It is the last two weeks of school and that means CHAOS! I have soooo much work to do and no time to do it in. I have an essay, 2 presentations, an 8 page research paper, an exam and a monsterous project all due by Thursday, April 29. I am buggin. Not to metion, on top of that I am applying for a UK visa. The visa application process is such a nightmare and the professor overseeing my study abroad program is a complete bonehead and cannot help us out. Our advisor from the UK also is a bonehead who will never e-mail you back and is perpetually on vacation. Plus, the whole volcano mess over Iceland is "delaying" the visa application process. What's a delay? Two days? A week? A month? I NEED A VISA!Basically, if my application doesn't go through, I will have to pay another 340 euros to "try" again. GGGRRRRR. I don't have time to be this stressed out. Bob Dylan is slightly helping me out. I just need to make it through to next Thursday... sweet relief.

Back in the Classic City

My trip to Savannah was a successful one. Although I didn't run into Paula Deen with a stick of butter, I did have a fun time roaming around River Street. We arrived on Friday around 7:30 to our hotel on Montgomery Street. After hanging up the tuxes and formal dresses, my date and I met some people for dinner at Spanky's while the other couple staying with us met up with some family for Greek food. At Spanky's, our table all ordered chicken fingers and spuds with ranch and honey mustard and watched the Braves game on t.v. It was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised when we discovered we could get to-go cups on our cocktails for the walk back to the hotel. We spent the rest of the night hanging out with friends at the hotel. On Saturday, we rolled out of bed around 9:30 to catch the continental breakfast then wandered around downtown Savannah. There were art galleries and shops galore, but my only purchase was a nail polish from Del Sol. It changes from blue to green in the sunlight. Later that night, we got all dressed up and ate a fabulous meal at the Shrimp Factory. It was prom night and there were young couples dressed up everywhere we turned. The waiter had a look of shock when I asked for the beer and wine menu! After we explained that our party was in town for a college formal, he was excited to see people over the age of 18. We had a conversation about the music scene in Athens (he plays bass in a band) and he made sure our glasses were kept full. My date and I split the shrimp scampi and a bottle of DeLoach Chardonnay. The shrimp was a little over cooked, but the rice was delicious and the service was unbeatable, especially for such a crowded night. After that, we headed to the river boat and danced the night away. The trip home yesterday was a long one, especially knowing I was headed back to the last two weeks of school, two papers and a project. Til next time, Savannah.

Spanish Moss and River Boats

This weekend I am headed to Savannah! I haven't been to Savannah in years, so I am so excited for the trip. One of my friend's date for his formal bailed last minute so he called me up to see if I would take her place. I did have plans of attending my sorority's annual Founder's Day luncheon, but who wants to sit around with alumni you don't know when you could be gallavanting up and down River Street? I thought about it for 2.5 seconds, weighing the fine for missing a madatory event versus the fun of a formal on a river boat, and said yes. Good-bye Athens, hello Georgia coast! One thing I am excited about for this trip is the food. Good ole Southern cuisine. I am hoping to stop into Paula Deen's Lady and Sons restaurant. The last time I visited Savannah, I ate so much there, they had to wheel me out! The crab cakes and fried green tomatoes were delicious and not to mention the thirst quenching ice cold lemonade... just thinking about it is making my mouth water.
Even if I don't quite make it to Paula's restaurant, I know my date and I will find our selfs some good food and refreshing beverages on River Street. There are so many shops and restaurants to visit, I'm sure to have a good time! (and spend too much money) Well ya'll, that's it for now!

These are a few of my favorite things...
Music and food. The two loves of my life. There is nothing better than a good meal and good tunes. This is going to be the focus of my blog, sprinkled with other bits of my life. I am a student at the University of Georgia and I just got into the music business certificate program. I am majoring in public relations, but I just want to see where life takes me. I will be studying in London this summer and hopefully will have a kick a$$ internship. There will be plenty of updates from across the pond this summer about fish and chips and Abbey Road. Anyways, I really hope this blog will grow into something cool, a small peice of me shared with the world.
